BC breaks out the brooms

With an 11-10 win at NC State on Sunday afternoon, the Boston College Eagles baseball team finished a series sweep of the Wolfpack, putting them at a season-high five games over .500.  Once again, the Eagles came from behind in the ninth to stun the home team and take another big ACC game.  Their record is now 22-17 (12-9 ACC), which I'm fairly certain is the best ACC record they've ever had this late in the season.

Here are the key things you need to know about where this teams stands right now: BC has won 8 games in a row and 16 of their last 21, and with just two more wins, BC will have won more ACC games than ever before.  Not only that, but the Eagles (with a Clemson loss today) are in sole possession of second place in the ACC Atlantic and sit just two games behind #9 Florida State for first place.  The Seminoles come to Boston in two weeks for a series that could help decide a division title.

Boston College has also played itself right back into the NCAA Tournament discussion.  A few days ago, it was believed that BC was the 6th team out of the field.  This was, of course, before BC swept NC State.  The Eagles are on the cusp, but with some of the non-conference losses they've sustained, now is not the time to take their feet off the gas.

Additional info: if the season ended today, Boston College would be the 5th seed in the ACC Baseball Tournament (only the top 8 teams qualify), and are currently four games clear of ninth place.  With only nine games to go, a berth in the ACC Tournament is looking likely.

  2. Thanks Mike.

Despite starting the year 7-12, amazingly, BC has pulled pretty much even with where they were at this point last year (when they made the tournament). They have a good shot if they keep it up.
