Trade him, trade him now

Ken Rosenthal at Fox Sports throws me a bone and states that the Yankees are letting other teams know that they can have CF Melky Cabrera. When he came up in 2005, I saw a guy get totally owned by the intensity of the majors and it wasn't his fault. In 2006, he was fun and we all loved him. He then proceeded to take a slight step back in 2007 and a huge step back in 2008. In 129 games last season, the Melkman put up a miserable OPS of .642 and even managed to boot a ball on a routine play while waving to the Bleacher Creatures. He's out of options, has essentially already lost the CF race to Brett Gardner, and would have to move out anyway when Austin Jackson comes up. The Yanks also have better players who'd like to get ABs and need to clear out space. The problem is that he's owed $1.4M, though he's still years away from testing the FA market.

At best, he is a 4th outfielder on the Yankees, and probably many other places as well. If the Yankees can get anything of value, I'd say get it done, Cash.
