There are games outside the ACC (or so I've been told). Some of them appear to be quite intriguing.
1. Penn State at Alabama
Saturday, September 11, 2010 - Tuscaloosa, AL
This is by far the defending national champions' best non-conference game in the regular season. That old coot in Happy Valley still wins football games, so this should be quite the contest.
2. Oregon State at Boise State
Saturday, September 25, 2010 - Boise, ID
If Virginia Tech is Boise State's annual "well, we gotta play ONE good team" game, then this is the runner-up. The Hokies and Beavers are the only two teams of any real note that the Broncos face, and this is the only other real shot they have at getting knocked off before another BCS berth falls into their laps.
3. Texas vs. Oklahoma
Saturday, October 2, 2010 - Dallas, TX
The Red River Shootout is always a fun time for Big XII fans, except this time, there will be no Colt McCoy OR Sam Bradford (not that we had Bradford last time -- what was the name of that OU quarterback with the 'stache?)
4. Florida at Alabama
Saturday, October 2, 2010 - Tuscaloosa, AL
An SEC Championship rematch which could be a preview of the next SEC Championship, again.
5. Texas at Nebraska
Saturday, October 16, 2010 - Lincoln, NE
Especially after last year, I'm sure Nebraska is thrilled that this is the last time they have to be compelled to play Texas. It should still be an exciting game, even without Colt McCoy and Ndamukong Suh.
6. Notre Dame vs. Navy
Saturday, October 23, 2010 -- East Rutherford, NJ
Charlie had trouble with the Middies, where no previous Domer coach in recent times had. Will Brian Kelly?
7. Alabama at LSU
Saturday, November 6, 2010 -- Baton Rouge, LA
Alabama has some competition in the SEC West this year, and this is amongst the better teams they'll face in their stacked conference.
8. Ohio State at Iowa
Saturday, November 20, 2010 -- Iowa City, IA
This may be the de facto Big Ten championship game -- as opposed to next year, when they'll actually have one.
9. Colorado at Nebraska
Saturday, November 27, 2010 -- Lincoln, NE
A game that Big XII fans shall heretofore know as the "Treason Bowl," Colorado and Nebraska will play each other as conference-mates one last time. The Buffs are bailing for the Pac-10/12 while the Huskers are splitting for the Big Ten/Eleven/Twelve.
10. Michigan at Ohio State
Saturday, November 27, 2010 -- Columbus, OH
Depending on how things go for the Maize and Blue, this could be Rich Rod's swan song -- and, depending how things go for the Scarlet and Gray, it could put Mr. Sweater Vest back in the BCS title game.
