Well, there's not a whole lot going on in BC sports this week, as we've hit the final exam break. It seems that almost every semester I wasn't able to dodge the Saturday morning exam period. They were ungodly then and I'm assuming they're ungodly now, so I feel for those unfortunate students and wish good luck to all.
We've just seen Boston College baseball take its third straight loss -- all against ranked teams -- with this one coming against UConn. They are 27-24 (13-14) and frankly not good enough to make the NCAA Tournament. Once the regular season has ended, I will do a statistical update to show you how they've fared this year as opposed to last year when they had a notably nice year. I can tell you right now, however, in one word why 2010 hasn't been quite as nice: pitching.
With the window for picking up new men's basketball players closing in a few weeks time, continue to keep an eye out for possible moves to add to the 2010-2011 roster. With Evan Ravenel's departure, we are down to only seven players on the team. Anybody who decides to transfer here will almost certainly get a boatload of playing time for obvious reasons. Of course, we can also hope to see some more 2011 commits, as we just had our first (Dennis Clifford) a few days ago. That's all well and good, and we will need more, but we still need bodies for next season. My advice to the tall, athletic, young male students at Boston College is keep hitting the weights at the Plex and stay in shape because hell, you might get a shot as a walk-on. (I'm kidding. Maybe.)
