It was not pretty, but Boston College defeated the Alaska-Fairbanks Nanooks by a final score of 3-1. The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the first on a short-handed Matt Lombardi goal, but in the second, Andy Taranto for the Nanooks tied it up. Pat Mullane, however, put the Eagles ahead for good in the third. Boston College scored a third goal that was technically an empty-netter by Matt Price, but came on a penalty.
Boston College did not play a dominant game. They got the goals they needed, and John Muse did an admirable job holding down the fort after his poor six-goal performance against Maine, but struggled during certain stretches. The Eagles committed five penalties and allowed a power play goal, but scored no power play goals on five chances themselves. BC also barely outshot the Nanooks, 32-29.
They'll play the winner of North Dakota/Yale tomorrow evening at the DCU Center, where the Eagles are now 7-1 all-time.
