Paradise lost

Note: ATL and I apparently had the same idea for a title...why do we always have the same friggin ideas?

Anyway, the BC Eagles lost in their third and final game of the 2009 Paradise Jam to Northern Iowa this afternoon.  Once again, the Eagle defense played a critical role in their loss, letting the UNI Panthers shoot an eye-popping 70% from the floor (seriously, what can you say?)

The Eagles' offense was fine, shooting about 53% and cashing in on most free throw attempts, but it was not nearly good enough to make up for their awful defending.  With the loss, the Eagles are 3-2 and lost 2 out of 3 in the Paradise Jam.  This was a poor 6th-place showing in St. Thomas and there's no way to sugarcoat it.  A win in today's game would have given BC something to feel good about going into the Thanksgiving break, but instead they lost again to another mid-major.  So what, they've beaten the three marshmallows on the schedule so far; the two teams that weren't stuffed them.

How do I feel about this year's team now?  I will say that if they play defense like this for the rest of the year, they will not go far in the ACC.  Rakim Sanders would not have made a difference today.
