Week 4 in the ACC: Picks

I didn't have a terrible week 3, but I didn't have a great one either (6-4).  I'll try to be better, I promise.  Alright, no, I don't promise.  I've been trying since Sunday to get a hold of Miss Cleo but she's not returning my calls anymore.  Looks like I'm on my own with these following picks:

South Florida at #18 Florida State (-14)

The Seminoles sure got me good last week, pulling a heavy-duty upset over BYU on the road.  This week, they play an unranked opponent in Tallahassee whose quarterback is now gone for the season, so there's no way I'm not picking them.  Pick: Florida State

#22 North Carolina at Georgia Tech (-2.5)

This is a really tough one.  Georgia Tech will bounce back sooner or later, but the Tar Heels have looked pretty good.  I took the Yellow Jackets last week and they burned me, but I kinda want to do it again.  Pick: Georgia Tech

Wake Forest (-2) at Boston College

Coming up on Friday!

Rutgers (-2) at Maryland

Let's get one thing straight: the Terrapins have looked absolutely terrible in the first three weeks of the season.  Nuked at Cal, scraped by James Madison, got clipped by Middle Tennessee State.  I can't pick them against a BCS-conference team at this juncture.  Pick: Rutgers

Pittsburgh at North Carolina State (-1)

It's a big game and either Tom O'Brien or Dave Wannstedt is your coach.  I'm not Jewish, but oy gevalt.  My gut is telling me the 3-0 Panthers are going to win.  Pick: Pittsburgh

#15 TCU at Clemson (-2.5)

I'm going to assume that the Horned Frogs' offensive coordinator is a lot better than BC's, and that things won't be so easy for the Tigers this weekend.  Still, TCU has hardly been tested this year.  The Tigers may well pull this upset.  Pick: Clemson

#9 Miami (-2.5) at #11 Virginia Tech

Both these teams have played strong schedules and looked good doing it.  The winner of this game might have the inside track to the Orange Bowl this year, and while I think it could easily go either way, the Hokies are more than capable of defending their home turf.  Pick: Virginia Tech

North Carolina Central at Duke (no line)

Hey, here's another one Duke might actually win!  The NCCU Eagles have played nobody and still lost each game, so there's just no way I'm going with them, despite the Blue Devils not being all that great.  Pick: Duke

  1. NC Central looks like they Hijacked the 1920's BC logo.

I like the Clemson / TCU pick. I think it will be a close game and will come down to the wire.

I'd also love to take UMD over NJSU, but Maryland is just unbelievably awful this year.

  2. I did actually think for a split second about taking Maryland, but no, can't do it. They suck.
