Today's MLB Roundup

Since I figure you want to hear about more than just the Yankees and the teams they play, perhaps?

* The man who killed Angels P Nick Adenhart and 2 others will be brought up on murder charges (not vehicular manslaughter). If he is guilty, he should serve every little second of his sentence (which I hope would be life). He ended three lives due to his carelessness and lack of concern for the public. Throw the book at him, as they say.

* A-Rod will resume baseball activities after this weekend. They're still officially saying mid-May, but I wouldn't be surprised if he were on the field much sooner. If the Yankees are playing well, however, they might not see fit to rush him, despite the fact that Cody Ransom's bat has been a black hole in the 8 spot.

* Now there's the Texas Rangers pitching I've come to know; 15 runs! They were playing quite well in the first series (although maybe that's because the Indians suck at this point).

* Speaking of the Indians, 0-4 start for the Tribe and the stats are ugly. 42 runs allowed (10.5 per game) is by far the worst in the league so far, and they're already sporting a run differential of -21. The offense has been alright but the story here is the atrocious pitching in the first time through the rotation. Cliff Lee, Fausto Carmona and Carl Pavano were all awful and in the 4th game, the bullpen totally collapsed after a rain delay.

* The Marlins are 4-0 for the first time in franchise history. If Bobby Cox said they have the division's best rotation, it must be true, and it sure looks it so far.

* The Phillies looked terrible today and so did Cole Hamels in Denver. They're 1-3 but they just won the World Series, so give them a break.

* The Cubs blew that game in the 9th? It figures.
