Chad Campbell came very close...and I mean very close...to tying the course record at Augusta today, but a bogey-bogey finish due to some slight misses with the putter ensured it wouldn't happen. Jim Furyk, the #15 golfer in the world, is only a stroke behind.
Larry Mize, a champion from over 20 years ago, is suprisingly only 2 strokes behind, with new fan favorite Greg Norman at -2 (5 back) with Tiger Woods, the guy everyone is watching.
None of these guys had the moment of the day. That was when Gary Player, 73 year-old South African hall-of-famer, buried a beautiful putt on the 11th to save his par. Jack Nicklaus is out of the competition, Arnold Palmer is out, and after this year, so will Gary Player be. These three guys were the three-headed monster of professional golf several decades ago, and with Player's retirement after tomorrow's round, it will be the end of an era.
