From the old digs, a 3/4/2009 preview

I wrote it, so I can copy and paste it freely. Right?

* The Patriot League, Atlantic Sun Conference, and Sun Belt Conference all get going.

* Boston College can pretty much seal up an at-large bid by beating NC State and getting a 9th ACC win. The Eagles are still alive for an ACC Tournament bye with 2 wins and some help. I'll be all over this game tonight.

* With Maryland's loss to Wake, the ball is in Virginia Tech's court to get an edge on the bubble. The Hokies play UNC and with the state of their resume, they've gotta have it.

* Miami has no room for error, therefore they must win at Georgia Tech. Their RPI (44) and strong SOS (10) have kept them in the discussion despite their 6-8 ACC record, but a loss to the ACC's cellar dwellers would be a fatal blow to their at-large chances.

* Kentucky is another team that can't afford to lose to a team from Georgia. The Wildcats are on the brink and they have to take care of business at home. Florida is another SEC team that has to keep rolling, or else.

* All-bubble game in the Big 10: Wisconsin vs. Minnesota. Both have good RPIs (WIS 30, MIN 37) and SOSs (WIS 6, MIN 46). Wisconsin's resume is good enough that they could probably absorb this loss and still have a decent chance of making the field; Minnesota really can't. The Golden Gophers need this one.

* Oh look, ANOTHER team that can't afford to lose: Texas A&M. Colorado wouldn't exactly be a resume win, but a loss would kill them.

* The best overall games of the day look to be Marquette vs. Pitt and OU vs. Mizzou.

* The bubblicious SDSU and UNLV both play and both need to win.
