Apparently, that cyst is a naughty little bugger. They did not know it was a cyst, but everyone knew something was wrong as of last season, so I'm wondering why it took until this week to put all the pieces together. The report is, as yet, unconfirmed by the Yankees but it is obvious that this thing will have to be removed and when it happens, A-Rod will miss significant time. How this will impact the Yankees remains to be seen but the lineup isn't as good as it was a couple days ago, that's for sure. Pitching will have to carry the team (and unlike 2008, it will have to succeed).
I have visions of last season's Yankee lineup getting 2 guys on base in an inning and not scoring. I hope the same fate does not befall the Yankees this year, with or without A-Rod.
It also goes without saying that A-Rod will not be playing for los Dominicanos in the WBC.
